Look At What I Found In My Backyard

Anyone know what this is? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

It's leaves on my peony bush! I discovered them the other day and was soooo excited. I really thought it was dead. I know they hibernate (or whatever) for a bit over the winter but there really were no signs of life going on at all and I was about ready to write it off until I saw the leaves.

I just checked my blog and found that my peony had buds on it on April 23rd of last year so it is running a little behind this Spring. I'm glad it finally came out of its coma.

Not a lot of crafting going on at my house. I'm still having fun on Facebook. But my foot surgery has been scheduled for May 15th (FINALLY) and there's a two to six month recovery period so I have a feeling, I will have crafts coming out my ass in the near future. A few ideas for things to make have been bouncing around in my head for awhile now. I just need to log off of Facebook long enough to actually do them.

One more thing: Mollie over at Wild Olive is sharing a cute Earth Day embroidery pattern.

Yeah on the surgery being scheduled! I'll cheer you on. I loaded up on supplies before mine and I know you'll get a lot done too.

I love that Earth Day pattern! So cute.

(I love my word verification here - "gizindew" - I'm going to try to work that into conversation like it's a real word.

Yay! A surgery date! And it's just around the corner... I look forward to all of your post-surgery crafts -- maybe you can embroider our family tree ;)

So is this peony yellow?????? I thought they were just pink? We had one just off our patio for a long time -- until I discovered the ants in the house were coming from the peony plant. They are so beautiful but I had no idea they 'need' the ants. We moved the plant and I'm must happier with the ants on the other side of the yard.

Hoping your surgery goes well and your recovery is full and fast.

Good luck on your surgery! I'll look forward to all the links and crafts you'll post while you recover, but surgery is never fun. I twittered your blog today! I hope you don't mind. I was looking for something cute to make and followed one of your links to a cupcake coin purse that is so cute. I love coming to your blog to get inspiration, so I thought I'd Twitter it so others could check you out. :)

I would love to have peonies, or any flowers for that matter. We've been in our house nearly three years and I don't have anything but a tiny lilac bush and a dinky hydrangae that's never bloomed.

I know you must be relieved to finally have a surgery date!

I also thought my peonies were dead and got a great surprise when hey started popping up! I got some transplants from my mom last year and planted them all along the fence in the backyard, but they shriveled and never grew the whole summer and I thought sure they died. This spring, I was shocked to see their purple little sprouts starting up! So I pampered them with nice thick mulch around each one. I'm sure they will be small this year but I hope they keep coming back each year.

Peonies are hard to kill off, we had them in our yard when I grew up, and always hated the ants but knew they needed them to open. I heard you can even mow over them when they're done for the season and they'll come up even better the next year.

Great to hear you got surgery scheduled, will pray for you. Love seeing your updates on Facebook. Your artwork is so amazing to look at, I never did good in sewing or stitching, am more of a paper crafter.
