(In the photo is one of the shelter dogs that Lone Star would like to pull. She's 11 yrs old and blind, and it doesn't take a genius to know that the general public will not be lining up to adopt her anytime soon.)
And, if you're in a position to provide a foster home for Lone Star, please fill out an application. Like every other rescue group out there, they are always in dire need of fosters. If you can't foster a dog, please consider helping in other ways. Not sure how else to help? Check out this list of 100 ways to help a rescue without adopting or fostering.
If you'd like to help a rescue group or animal shelter but not sure which one to call, you can find listings of local organizations by going to Petfinder and putting in your zip code.
I'm not sure why but out of all of Lone Star's dogs, if I could adopt one, it would be Bok Choy. Probably because her name is food-related. :)
UPDATE: As of May 13, Lone Star is able to take nine of these dogs, woo hoo! And, happily, a few others have been either adopted or spoken for by other rescues. They still want to get the four seniors from Galveston though so please send a few bucks their way if you can. Thank you!
UPDATE #2: As of May 22, a foster home has been found for the doggy in the picture but Lone Star still needs fosters for three other seniors (hint hint).
