Dirty Or Clean In Felt

A few years ago, Loralynn sent me a biscornu that she made out of felt that I totally love.

Felt biscornu top

She makes a lot of really cool things and I have to share one of her latest projects because I love it so much.  It's one of those Clean or Dirty signs that you put on your dishwasher.  It's so cute and it's made out of felt.  Please visit her blog now and check it out.  Isn't that great?!

Have You Never Been Mellow

About five years ago, Uncle Bob asked his readers to come up with their Fifteen Favorite Mellow Tunes. I couldn't get Olivia Newton-John's voice out of my head but I managed to come up with a list and I posted it to my (old) blog.

1. Sadly Beautiful -- The Replacements
2. Perfect Circle -- Rem
3. Skyway -- the Replacements
4. Pecan Pie -- Golden Smog
5. Best of My Love -- The Eagles
6. Avenues -- Whiskeytown
7. My Drug Buddy -- Lemonheads
8. This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody) -- Talking Heads
9. Allison -- Elvis Costello
10. Rose Parade -- Elliott Smith
11. Passenger Side -- Wilco
12. Pale Blue Eyes -- Rem
13. Cowboy Junkies -- Sweet Jane
14. Dancing Barefoot -- Patti Smith or U2 or that Feelies version that I have on a flexi from some 80's zine
15. Running To Stand Still -- U2 (well, except for that middle verse where Bono is uh, ragin')

A couple of weeks later, I posted this on my (old) blog:

Wouldn't it be incredibly cool if somebody saw my list of Fifteen Favorite Mellow Tunes and made me a cd? And then she just mailed it to me without telling me so I was completely surprised to get it and when I opened the envelope, I didn't have my glasses on so I had trouble figuring out the words on the cd and all I could tell was that it said Patty and mellow and then I saw Pecan Pie and I realized what it was and I got so excited, I squealed and freaked out the blind dog.

My friend, Michelle, had downloaded every song on my list and then burned a cd for me, and I was so surprised and thrilled. She was even able to find live versions of some of the songs. I would have married her if we were both gay and she also gave me a nice ring. Seriously. Mix tapes cds have that effect on me.

After I moved a couple of years ago, I could not find the cd anywhere. It wasn't with my other cds, and I knew it wasn't in my car because I didn't have a cd player in there. I searched for it for awhile but eventually, I figured finding it was a lost cause and it was gone for good.

The other day, I decided to play something with my small boombox and guess what I found in the cd player? The cd from Michelle! We won't be able to get married now that Proposition 8 passed in California but I still absolutely love her for making me the best mix cd ever.

My New Hobby

My new thing is asking my friends if they have any aprons and then requesting pictures of the aprons. So, here is Michelle's apron, modeled by her dress form, Caroline. It originally belonged to her grandmother and is at least 50 years old.

Thanks for the pictures, Chelle!

Blogger does something to photos to make them less attractive. I've noticed that pictures look clearer and brighter in Windows Gallery (it comes with Vista) than they do on this blog.

Speaking of dressforms, there's an apron giveaway going on at Itching 2 B Stitching. Tracey has a dress form that needs a name and if she chooses your suggestion, she will make you a craft apron. And, she will pick another winner from everyone who posts about the contest on their blog. All the details are at Give The Girl A Name.

At first, I misread that as "give that girl a name" and wanted to suggest Ann Marie.

Tag...you're it!!

Over a week ago, Jenn of Sweet Pea Stitches tagged me to post seven weird or random things about myself. I don't know how many times I've added and deleted stuff to this list. I either sound like a nutjob or really boring. Here are my final answers. (And, thanks for tagging me, Jenn! Sorry it took me so long to post this.)

1. I'm not into coin collecting but I have been saving one of each of the state quarters. Except I have several California ones because that's where I live and I have a few Wisconsin quarters because there's a cow and cheese on it and I like cows and I like cheese.

2. I peel mushrooms. Not all kinds but always the white or button variety. I don't know why. I just do it.

3. Whenever I get my plastic bobbin of DMC 666 embroidery floss out of the box, I can always hear Gregory Peck yelling "Damien!" in my head. (Hmm. I hear voices and I peel mushrooms. Hello, freak girl.)

4. I collect postcards. I buy them when I go places and I save the ones that people send to me. They're kept in a cardboard box and bundled by category: "Phila 1972" or "From Susan" or "Bought at flea market 2006." I wish the rest of my life was as organized as my postcards and my floss box.

5. I couldn't live without iced tea. It has to be unsweetened and cannot be herbal. My current favorite is Tazo, which is what they serve at Starbucks, but I buy tea bags from Cooking.com and make it by the pitcher at home.

6. I'm more about reading craft blogs and saving patterns and instructions than to actually making anything. My mom recently gave me a plain pink pillowcase that she didn't want anymore and I thought I'd embroider it. Do you think I could decide what to stitch on it? There are so many free patterns out there, plus I have some that I bought, that I was having a lot of trouble trying to choose one. That's insane. (Memo to self: if you embroidered more often instead of just collecting patterns, you wouldn't be having a mental breakdown over trying to choose a design to stitch.)

7. I used to be lucky at winning stuff from radio stations. Once, I won seven pairs of tickets. Another time, I won $106.70 (the station was at 106.7 on the dial). And another time, I won 100 cds from them. I had to go to the radio station, look through books of album titles, and pick the ones I wanted. I later sold many of them when I was strapped for cash. How sad is that?

And, now here are the rules for this thing:

1. Once you are tagged, link back to the person who tagged you.

2. Post THE RULES on your blog.

3. Post 7 weird or random facts about yourself on your blog.

4. Tag 7 people and link to them

5. Comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

I am tagging Michelle, Kim, Tess, Amy, Nicole, Kellie, and Emily.

Edited to add: This is post #333 and you know what that is: half of 666. Damien!

Vote Early, Vote Often

My friend Michelle has a son who is in a band called Three Foot Fall. Please vote for them in the Battle of the Bands by going to the Pasco Libraries page on MySpace and clicking on their name. You don't have to sign in or register even though it's MySpace.

And, The Apronista is having another giveaway. This time, it's for an apron from Carolyn's Kitchen. Visit Carolyn and you will find aprons with polka dots, stripes, eyelet, and heart-shaped pockets. Pardon me while I drool.

Hah!
