Way Too Many Blogs

I read way too many blogs.

I'm going through what I consider my favorites now and catching up on posts about the election, and in some cases, Halloween.

I was recently given two blog awards and have put off posting about them because I know I have to decide who to pass them on to, and where that was once a fun thing to do, now I see it as a chore because I'm overwhelmed by choices.

I skip participating in Vintage Thingies Thursday and Blue Monday because I feel obligated to check out everybody else's blog and I know I won't always have the time.

I will leave comments on a blog and the blogger will email me a response and I will let it sit there for a month (or five) because I am too busy reading blogs to answer my email.

I miss giveaways because by the time I read about them, it's too late to enter.

This is insane.

And, ridiculous.

And, sad to say, it isn't as fun as it used to be.

P.S. People who only blog once or twice a week rule.

hahahaha that is so funny My blog list is getting longer and longer.... I love how the new blogger has a blog list that sends all the new ones to the top... that way I don't spend an hour trying to figure out who posted new ones !!!!

Patty,

:-( I blog everyday. Sorry.

And, I don't want you to stop Blue Monday. Visit who you can, but come on and play.

OMG! I think you just described my life! I KNEW we were soul sisters, Patty! Some mornings I open my reader and there are, like, 400 new posts waiting for me, and I think, "Holy cow. Really?" But I'm addicted. I don't think I can cut down without an intervention. :)

Patty, do you have your blogs in a reader? If not, a reader makes it a lot easier to keep up because you can see exactly which blogs were updated. I have well over 200 blogs in my reader. Yes, some days it gets to be a chore but nobody says you have to comment on every entry or read every single word! This is supposed to be a fun hobby! ***hugs***

I've stopped passing on awards, and I don't visit everyone for VTT or Blue Monday. I go with a theme each week, like I visit everyone who has a "T" in their name. Or everyone below my name on the list. This has made it less stressful, as well as knowing that people don't expect us to visit constantly or respond immediately. Read the comments on my Overwhelmed! post and see what they say. You've got to make it fun again, because your blog is so awesome we don't want to lose you!

I feel the same - it used to be more fun. It's my own fault, that I've subscribed to more than I can keep up with.

As you know, I don't always answer emails via email.

We do the best we can. I think most bloggers are in the same boat.

I'm totally addicted to blogging. I love reading the blogs and want to see what every one is doing. I also like to comment. I guess I don't rule. Twyla

Girl, I know what you mean about reading too many blogs, but I have the answer--Bloglines. Seriously, get them all in there, and they you will get a list of all the UPDATED blogs--as they happen. It's terrific.

Your blog should be fun for YOU first and foremost. If it blesses anyone else, then great. But if it begins to drag you down, then you have to examine what is causing that. I hope you can find a happy medium.

I completely understand what you are saying.
I used to blog more often and post more comments, but I have had to cut back.
Blogging isn't my job, it's more like a hobby, so I do it when I have time.

I've noticed an explosion in blog posting with the advent of NaNoWriMo this month. Coincidence? I think not.

Here Here! LOL! I can't do it all any more either and I always feel so guilty.... but I have to mop my floors and do my dishes at SOME point, right? LOL!

SO true. It can get overwhelming. I've been busy these last few days and the blog world has been CATAPULTING forward without me. There's no way to find time to make it all up. You deserve an extra special THANK YOU for stopping by my blog regularly because I always enjoy hearing from you.

Thank goodness for Google reader! the "following" option that lets me see new posts from blogs I've "friended" at Blogger is probably the sole reason I switched from LJ to Blogspot. Though this may prove tricky, as my list is quickly piling up as well. Good luck! Haha. :P

Oh yes, I know what you mean, Patty. Like everyone else here, I just love reading all the blogs that interest me, but I don't always leave comments. And if I do, I don't go back looking for a response. But I do try to respond to comments that are left on my blogs; I think it is only polite and friendly to do that.
As for those stupid "awards" that get around...I know some people mean well, but they are just a nuisance and do more to clog up the Internet than provide a useful purpose, so I politely thank the sender then delete them.

Can I make a confession? There is a certain vintage item that gets listed on VTT a LOT and, frankly, I have run out of things to say about this item. "Cute" is all I can think of. And I feel really bad about it because it will often be a person who has commented on my blog. Yes, I'm a mean old hag. :( I don't read very many blogs because ... well ... I'm kind of self-centered. lol. I really do enjoy the VTT posts though. I'll miss yours. I always feel inferior to daily bloggers. And also the ones who post pictures of what they made for dinner. I mean, I'm a pretty good cook, but my meals are never that photogenic! haha. I guess I rule cause I only write a couple blogs a week. :p
