In case you're still on the fence about trying crayon tinting embroidery, here's a tutorial from Lauren at Pimp Stitch to get you started. And, if you need some inspiration, check out Flickr's Tinted Linens group. (Hey, look at that. I'm a member. It's amazing what little I retain these days.)
Also on Pimp Stitch are instructions from Missy on adding fabric to your embroidery. I have to try this.

Tinted and embroidered linens...swoon! One more thing that I would love to try but can't cause I'm too busy wasting time.
I heart you so much! Thank you for the blog love!!

thanks gal! I bought some fusible web yesterday just so I can embroider with fabric!!! weeeeee !!!!!!
I've seen this before but now I know how to do it.
Seems like a great alternative to applique for some designs.
I might even get the kids in on this.
I too do crayon tinting, sometimes with embroidery and sometimes without. I just showed two clothespin bags that I decorated with crayon tinting (but I call it just coloring fabric with crayons).Kids love doing this.
